Welcoming Paraguay to WIPO Lex-Judgments! Last week marked an important milestone as Paraguay became the 40th jurisdiction to join WIPO Lex-Judgments, further enriching our database’s extensive coverage in Latin America. This collaboration strengthens the partnership with the Supreme Court of Paraguay that was initiated by the general Memorandum of Understanding on Judicial Support signed in 2020, facilitating various successful workshops and activities for Paraguayan judges. What is WIPO Lex? WIPO Lex is one of World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO's flagship resources - a free global database comprising Intellectual Property (IP) Laws from over 200 jurisdictions. It consists of three collections: IP laws, treaties and judgments. The judgments collection is distinguished by the collaboration undertaken between WIPO Lex and participating jurisdictions. Expert governmental and judicial representatives curate and continuously update the selection of decisions to feature leading IP judgments that establish precedent or provide persuasive interpretation. It ensures users stay abreast of the important and latest IP judgments worldwide. With 40 countries actively engaged in WIPO Lex-Judgments, this platform serves as an invaluable resource for legal researchers, students, practitioners, judges and policymakers. Additionally, the judgments collection features descriptions of the Judicial Administration Structure of participating jurisdictions, enabling users to gain insight into civil, criminal, and administrative court structures and competencies, and providing context for the decisions. This latest partnership with Paraguay paves the way for continued collaboration, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the vital role of the judiciaries in the IP and innovation ecosystem.
